Eager learners with inquiring minds fill our Prekindergarten Room. This classroom is for children ages 40 months and older, who work, play and learn together during large group, small group and center time-both indoors and outdoors. During center time, children can choose to work independently, with friends or with a teacher. Throughout the year, teachers plan activities that support children’s ever changing interests and the children plan and work together to develop projects using real-world application of basic and higher-level thinking skills. Our Prekindergarten program is designed to prepare children for their transition into kindergarten by gradually preparing them for the rigors of more formal schooling. We begin to introduce and emphasize more academic subjects such as alphabet and phonics skills, mathematical thinking skills and handwriting skills.  Large group, small group and individualized instruction allows teachers to monitor children’s progress in preparing for kindergarten.
